The Changing Face of

 Alloa

Alloa photographs showing the changes that the town is undergoing.

If you have old photo's you'd like to add please send them.

If there is anything you'd like to see, maybe where you used to live, let me know and I'll try to add a picture.

Alloa has changed quite a bit in the last couple of years. I would love to be able to include before and after shots. If you have any which could be used here, please contact us.

The photographs below were taken on the 16th March 2006. Showing a new housing scheme between Alloa and Clackmannan. The Glassworks chimney can be seen in the third picture.

Old railway line behind Greenfield Street.

Remember when Paton's Wool store caught fire? or the Abattoir? They were next to the end of this row of houses.

The junction of Grange Road and Stirling Road. The road has been closed as the railway line will be running across here again. (08-Aug-06)

Rebuilding of the railway beside the Alloa and Clackmannan Road. A new road is being built which will join with the new bridge over the Forth.

View from Tesco's. Tesco's is now built on the old Paton & Baldwins site. The brewery has gone revealing the old building at the back, now a pub.

The above photographs are of Bandeath, now an industrial estate but it used to be MOD property and stored munitions during the war. The old amunition huts are still there but occupied only by sheep these days. There was a railway system which can still be seen, which ran to a pier where ammunition would be loaded/unloaded onto ships. I have included these photos simply because they are interesting and I was there taking the Alloa ones anyway!
