Menstrie

Menstrie has it's own Castle which lay unoccupied for a while. It was eventually made into flats.

More information on Menstrie can be found here.

MENSTRIE "A village in Alva Parish, on the Stirling-to-Kinross road, is engaged in the woollen manufacture. Like the other villages and towns along the foot of the Ochils, Menstrie has a very beautiful situation."
[Clackmannan and Kinross by J.P.Day B.A. B Sc., 1915 ]

Menstrie causes some confusion, as well as Alva, for people researching family history. It was in the Parish of Alva which was, until 1891, under the jurisdiction of Stirling.

Menstrie is undergoing a massive building project with many new houses to the South West of the village.

These photographs were taken on 16 March 2006 from the Tullibody to Fishcross Road.
