Thanks to Michael Johnston for making the correction to this family and sending a copy of the marriage entry.

I have followed up with more research and discovered an error which could help solve some problems. Joseph was married to Sarah ANDREW and not Anderson. I think this error stemmed from a daughter-in-law registering a death, She would not be in possession of the complete facts and probably used her best guess. There was an Anderson connection.

I also have to say that if you are connected in any way to the Reid, Andrew or Crawford family, we are all related somewhere. They all intermarried at some point, so we are all quite a 'mix-up'!

This family are from the wife's side of things but has been included here as there may well be some connection to the Crawford's further back. There may, or may not be, some connection to the Reid family at Maryhill whom John Crawford was living with in 1851.

Joseph Reid was born about 1821 in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire and he was a shoemaker. He died between 1871 and 1878. In 1871 he lived at 38 Society Road, Maryhill, Glasgow. Sarah was born in Fermanagh,  Ireland about 1826. The family were living in Airdrie in 1851 then Maryhill after that. Sarah died on the 21st July 1908 at 13 Cedar Street, Glasgow. She was 83 years of age and the ONLY information given for parents is ______ Andrew for the father. She died of old age and senility. Harriet Reid, daughter-in-law registered the death and she was present at the residence where Sarah died.

Children of Joseph Reid and Sarah Andrew are:

Isabella (Bella) Reid, born about 1840, Glasgow.

John Reid, born about 1852, Airdrie, Lanarkshire.

William Reid who was born about 1855, Glasgow, Lanark and died between 1881 and 1901.

Joseph Reid, born about 1858, Glasgow.
