Descendants of Alexander Brown

This is the parental family of Mary Brown who married William Crawford.

Alexander Brown was born about 1801 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire. He married Jane Sneddin on the 21st December 1838 at Bo'ness and the bans were read on the 24th November 1838 at Polmont. One of them was from Polmont and one from Bo'ness. Jane was born about 1817 at either Bo'ness or Bathgate.

From the 1851 census they were residing at Armadale, West Lothian which came under the Parish of Bathgate. Alexander was a coal miner. In 1861 Jane was a housekeeper and was residing at Binniehill Square, Slamannan.

Children of Alexander Brown and Jane Sneddin are:

Margaret Brown

George Brown, born about 1821 at Govan. He was at Armadale in 1851 and was a coal miner.

William Brown was born 23rd January 1840 at Greengairs, New Monkland, Lanarkshire.

Elisabeth Brown was born 4th April 1842 at Bo'ness, west Lothian. She is with the family at Armadale in 1851.

Robert Brown was christened on the 29th June 1845 at Muiravonside, Stirlingshire.

John Brown was born about 1848 at Govan. he was at Armadale, West Lothian in 1851 and Binniehill Square, Slammanan, Stirlingshire in 1861 and was a coal miner.

Mary Brown - married William Crawford. In 1861 she was at Binniehill Square, Slammanan, Stirlingshire.
