Dis-connected Crawfords

This page is where some Crawfords will end up! It's where I am placing those I have found and think will tie in somewhere eventually.

Like every family historian, genealogist, researcher etc., I have hit a brick wall with Robert Crawford and Helen Yuille. Robert, because he died prior to 1855 and I do not know where he was actually from; and Helen purely because I cannot find her. From the information on this web site, I think it is obvious that I will have left no stone unturned and I only know she was alive after 1855 so must have a death record somewhere!

Since finding family in USA, discovering they were at some point in Brady's Bend, Armstrong, PA, I have just had a huge hunch that maybe some of the answers, or at least clues, lie in USA, if not in Brady's Bend itself. My hunch was proved right when I discovered both Joe Ritson and Carole Rummell and the family was put back together, or at least some of it. See reunion page.

I have added a son to the family of John Crawford and Maude Myers. I do not think that is actually correct. Joe remembers them visiting with their daughter Edith but never the mention of a son Russell, although he does know of a Russell Crawford at Brady's Bend.

I am, therefore, putting Russell and his family here in the hope that it will be sorted out. They are all buried in the Private Crawford Cemetery at Brady's Bend. Surely if my Crawfords are buried there then the others must be linked? Joe's grandfather married Mary Ann Vasbinder and there is a Vasbinder connection to Russell's family.

Russell E Crawford was born 1st November 1913 and died 26th May 1988.

Colonel William Crawford

A story has been passed along the line of William Crawford, who married Helen Yulle

Crawford, that one of the ancestors was killed by Indians. I was intrigued, so had a look online and found that there is a story or two about him. Whether he IS connected or not has not been established but since he is a Crawford and probably of Scottish descent as well as being in the very places I have been looking at, I have mentioned this here.

Wikipedia has a picture of him. A family is listed here. I have found this to be an interesting site but there are others. It will be up to you to decide whether everything fits together or not!
