John Brown Crawford was
born 22nd April 1884, Falls Creek, Jefferson, Pennsylvania and died in
1954.
John was the son I looked for first
of all as I had been given the clue by Joe Ritson. His mother had told him
that her father had a cousin called John Crawford. The only other bits Joe
knew was that John married a woman called Maude and they had a daughter
called Edith. I wondered why this son and no other had been remembered but I
have found that this family had moved to Butler where Joe had also moved to.
I have not been able to locate John
on the 1900 census. I did find him in 1910 at Brady's Bend and he was a
driver in a coal mine. He was employed by North Penn Coal Company, Kaylor,
Armstrong Co., PA at some point. he was at Brady's Bend on the 1920 and 1930
Censuses and he was a driver, foreman and labourer in the coal mines.
He married Maude M Myers about 1910
and I would expect them to have married in Brady's Bend as she was born
there.

Someone is clearly looking after these graves and
putting flowers on them. It would be so nice to get in
touch.
