John Crawford
(1870-1918)
John Crawford was born 20th
August 1870 in 41 Whitelaw Street, Maryhill, Glasgow and died 12th
September 1918 in 127 High Street, Cowdenbeath. He married Catherine
Gardner 17th July 1891 in Argyle Street, Mission Hall, Maryhill,
daughter of John Gardner and Janet Lindsay. She was born about 1864, and died 10th
March 1927 in 127 High Street, Cowdenbeath.
John began like the
rest of the family, living with his parents at 153 Main Street, Maryhill in
1881. In 1891 he was a boarder with a family called McPherson at 22 Argyle
Street, Maryhill, so he was still near the family. He was an iron stone miner
between 1891 and 1892 and a coal miner in 1893. Catherine was a domestic servant
and lived at 2 Spring
Gardens, Kelvinside when they married.
By 1901 they had
moved to 113 Scott
Street, Perth where John was working as a hidesman. The family then moved to
Cowdenbeath where John's brother William was living at the time.
John was buried 19 September 1918.
Catherine was buried 12 March 1927 both at the
Older Part of Cowdenbeath Cemetery (Lair No. 1007).

John Crawford, born 24th March 1892 at 22
Argyle Street, Maryhill, Glasgow and died 9th March 1930 at 44 Foulford
Street, Cowdenbeath. He was a tailor (journeyman) and is buried in the
older part of Cowdenbeath Cemetery. He was not married.

was born 21 August
1893, 23 Argyle Street, Maryhill, Glasgow and died 10 April 1969, 19 Stephen Place, Lochgelly.
Janet Mary Stevenson Linsday Crawford, born
27th March 1895 at 9 South Street, Perth and died 1st December 1932 at
Royal Infirmary, Dundee. She married Alexander Burton Thomson on
the 30th April 1923 at The Manse, Natal Place, Cowdenbeath.
Catherine Crawford, born 17th December 1896 at
9 South Street, Perth and died 26th April 1972 at Arthur Street,
Cowdenbeath. She married Thomas Hunter on the 20th April 1917 at
131 High Street, Cowdenbeath.
James
Tait Crawford, born 16th November 1898 at 9 South Street, Perth and
died 1st October 1972 at Milesmark Hospital, Dunfermline. He married
Beatrice Bennet Ross and they have 2 daughters and 3 sons most of
which are married and have children.
Robert Crawford, born 29th January 1900 at 113
Scott Street, Perth and died 28th June 1922 at 127 High Street,
Cowdenbeath. He was a hidesman like his father and lived at 127 High
Street, Cowdenbeath. He was not married.
Menzies Crawford, born about 1904 Perth. No
more has been found for him other than that he was a witness at a
marriage.
