I have been researching the Crawford family for over 10 years and have hit a few
'brick walls', as we all do eventually. However, due to some rather strange
'coincidences' the family of Helen led me to Joe. I am from John. Robert died
young, which left only the family of William to find. I got so far, then
nothing. They disappear from Scotland. Of course my hunch was that they too went
off to America with William McCracken, Helen's son.
Joe gave me some clues which confirmed my suspicions that the family were indeed
in America. Of course with the 1890 American census being missing, I was unable
to find a family group for this family. I couldn't do much else, other than
speculate but Joe's information did lead to some of the family. All I could do
was post messages, add what I did know to this web site, and wait........
One day I simply wished that somebody would get in touch..........and 2 days
later.......Carole e-mailed me.
At long last the family had been found and confirmed. All my hunches were proved
right. So after about a year of corresponding, Carole welcomed us to USA and a
family were put back together after nearly 200 years. Robert and Helen would
have been born at the beginning of the 1800's They married in 1837 which is 171
years ago and John was born the following year.
One from each of the
original children.

I wonder if the original family were there with us that day? They certainly were
in spirit if not in Spirit!
