Henry Dalrymple of Airth
Although there is no concrete proof, at the moment, that
this is the father of Henry who has been found, he has been added here with good reason.
As there was a standard method of naming children in
Scotland, it would follow that the First Henry, having enough sons, would have a son
called Henry. Henry and Jean Gillespie have four children whose christenings are recorded
in old parish records. These would indicate the names of their own parents and more
research has to be done on this. It would follow that another son would be called Henry
and a further daughter would be called Jean or Jane. There does not appear to be another
Dalrymple family in Airth at this time so Henry has been included with this family as the
weight of evidence seems to tip the scale in that direction.
