The Meiklejohn Alterations
  • Some of the family files have not yet been linked. This is due to updating the site and adding new material. Please be patient as the alterations are made.

  • Some of the pages will not open correctly or may have some rather 'odd stuff' on them. I know about these and they are being changed, corrected and altered. Please be patient.

There will be errors in these groups but please be patient whilst the research continues. Corrections will be made when new information is gathered.

Keep the little bits coming, however insignificant they may seem, as I just might have another piece of the same jigsaw!

    The Meiklejohn Name

The name originates in the Culross and Tulliallan area. Culross being in the county of Fife and Tulliallan will be found in the county of Perthshire in old records. Clackmannan is only a very short distance to Tulliallan. The spread of the name can be followed outwards from there.

There is a grouping in the Caithness area and it could well be that they did originate in the Tulliallan area; being a seaport and ship building area centuries ago. Wick in Caithness was begun as a fishing port to give the people in the area a livelihood. It is entirely probable that folk from Tulliallan would move there to help the locals.
