David Archibald
(1824-1896)
David Archibald was
born about 1824 in Clackmannan and died of senile debility on the 4th April 1896
at Craigleith Poorhouse, Edinburgh. He married Janet Kirk on the 9th
September 1853 at Clackmannan. She was the daughter of Samuel Kirk and Helen
Morrison. She was born about 1827 in Clackmannan and died on the 28th August
1883 in Chalmers Hospital, Edinburgh.
{Samuel Kirk was a hotel keeper
and married Helen Morrison at Alloa on the 1st Mar 1817.}
In 1881, David was working as
a wheelwright and was living as a boarder at 6 Viewforth Park, St Cuthbert's,
Edinburgh. When he died he was a pauper and was formerly a millwright. When his
father died he registered the death and his residence was given as Currie. Janet
was living at Currie Village in 1881 and was a general merchant so she must have
had a shop. She was still at Currie in 1883 when she died. She had had an
operation to cure an umbilical hernia but she collapsed and died four days after
the operation.
Janet Kirk and David Archibald
appear to have had a child, then Janet married Robert Cowan Sharp. He,
presumably died and then Janet married David |
