Jane Hunter
(1831-1895)
Jane Hunter, known as
Jean, was born about 1831 in Clackmannan,
and died 20 February 1895 in Western Infirmary, Glasgow. She had a liaison with
a man called Halley which produced a son. She the married James Dow . He
was born about 1833 in Glasgow.
It does not appear that Jean
and James Dow had any children from what has been found so far. She died from
some kind of leg problem which could not be deciphered. Gangrene set in and she
died after 7 days. She was at Powside, Clackmannan in 1851 with her parents. Her
and James Dow were at 905 Garscube Road, Glasgow
and in 1891 7 Bishop Street, St Rollox, Glasgow. James was a coachman there. It
is possible that Jean went to Glasgow as a servant and met James there.
The child between Jean Hunter
and Mr Halley:
James Halley who was born
about 1849 at Clackmannan. Died 06 December 1863, Clackmannan. He was at Powside
with his grand parents in 1851 and with them at Craigrie House, Clackmannan in
1861. See Census 3. |
