Gladys May
Isaac was born in
1892 at Weymouth. She was the daughter of
Thomas Isaac
and Sarah Ann Porter. She
married Harold
Alexander Pratt 2nd September 1912 in The Parish Church,
Chickerell, son of James Edes Pratt.
He was born 27 September 1889 in Southsea, Hampshire. In 1901 Gladys was with her parents at
Monte Video, Chickerell.
On the 2nd
September 1912, Gladys was a nurse and living at
Chickerell, Harold was an Engine Room Artificer on H M S
Dominion. Both Gladys and her sister Louisa were nurses.
As Louisa was a children's nurse as can bee seen from
her photographs, then it is highly probable that Gladys
was also a children's nurse and could even be the other
lady in the photograph with Louisa and children. They
both married Engine Room Artificers.
In 1922, Harold
was awarded a medal, 'NL2300/25, approves man being
noted for prompt and successful action for safety of
ship- Tug 'St Jenny'.' I do not yet know what he did but
it looks like it was something interesting.
