Transcriptions from Marriage Certificates.

4th April 1863 Chickerell Parish Church, Weymouth, Dorset

Name Age Status Occupation Residence Father's Name Father's Occupation
John Porter 38 Bachelor Labourer East Chickerell Edward Porter Labourer
Susan Goff 28 Spinster   East Chickerell George Goff Labourer
Witnesses:- James Goff; Mary Drake
James Higglesworth, Curate

It is now known that John was actually a widower and not a bachelor as it clearly states on this marriage certificate.

4th November 1886 Chickerell Parish Church, Weymouth, Dorset

Name Age Status Occupation Residence Father's Name Father's Occupation
Thomas Isaac 23 Bachelor Groom Chickerell David Isaac Colliery
Sarah Ann Porter 22 Spinster Dress Maker Chickerell John Porter Brick Maker
Witnesses:- Robert Goding; Eliza Taylor; Nelson Moore Richardson
C.C. Donald, Rector

The certificate for the above record was not very legible. There are 3 witnesses, Robert Goding, Eliza Taylor and Nelson Moore Richardson. It is also known that Thomas worked for the Richardson family for many years from 1884 until his death in 1922.

By using the censuses, I have discovered that Robert Goding was a brick maker and lived close to John Porter, also a brick maker. Eliza Taylor's family had a Goding staying with them.

Nelson Moore Richardson was a Barrister and was born in Swansea about 1856. He moved around and was in Kent and London at various times, however, I have not found Thomas Isaac with him at any time.
