 Jane Maria Alexandrina Stevenson

(1845-1934)

Photos taken my Crowe & Rodgers, Stirling in August 1877.

It was obvious these were the same two wee boys in both photos, on the back of the 'boys' it has ? Christie aged 3½

and (me or W G) Christie 1 year. From this I could say who was in the photos. Jane Stevenson Christie and her two sons, Andrew and William. The photo was obviously taken for the first birthday of William. the older woman I think will be Jane's own mother, Jane Maria Blair Stevenson.

Photos kindly sent to me by Susan Ferguson.

Jane Maria Alexandrina Stevenson was born 14 November 1845 and christened on 3 December 1845 in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, and died 21 March 1934 in Minden, Peebles. She married William Christie on 31 December 1872 in Stirling, son of Andrew Christie and Mary Stevenson. He was christened 12 May 1845 in Dunfermline, Fife, and died 5 April 1923 in 17 Ainslie Place, Edinburgh. Christie Family

On the 1891 census, the family are at Carrick House, Steatham, London. Their son Andrew is not there. In 1901 they are still living at this address but William, together with his son William and daughter Jane, are not in residence. The son Andrew is there and is a Railway Sleeper Importer (employer).
