Janet Dumbreck was born 15 April 1869 in Lanark, Lanarkshire, and died 14 January 1918 in 29 West Port, Lanark. She married John Donnachie 27th August 1897 in Lanark, Lanarkshire. He was born about 1863 in Lanark and predeceased his wife. Janet was known as Jessie, a common enough occurrence in Scotland!

In 1891 Janet was at 11 West Port Street, Lanark; with her parents and was a 'varnisher'. When they married she lived at 27 West Port and her occupation was a 'fancy wood worker'. In 1897 John lived at 24 Bennet Road, Lanark and he was a Tailor, Journeyman. She died from Carcinoma of Rectum, Intestinal obstruction. A neighbour signed her death certificate. John Donnachie was a tailor (journeyman) in 1900. In 1901 they were at 29 West Port, Lanark

Matthew Donnachie, born 01 Mar 1898 at 29 West Port. Lanark.

Mary Wilson Donnachie was born 24 May 1900, 29 West Port. Lanark.

 

Both of these children were on the 1901 census. Nothing more is know of this family to date.
