William Stevenson
(1847-1876)
William Stevenson was born 7 March 1847 and christened 30 March 1847 in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, and died 16 August 1876 in Mainhill Pit, Bailiston,
Lanarkshire. He married Alexandrina (Alice) McFarlane
18 June 1873 in Nether Glenny, daughter of Walter McFarlane and Janet McFarlane.
She was born about 1849 in Port Of Menteith, Perth, Scotland, and died 16 November 1891 in Nether Glenny, Port of Monteith,
Perthshire.
William lived at Park Farm with his parents in 1851 and was then at 25 Broad
Street, Alloa with them in 1861. Form 1865 to 1866 he was still with his parents
at 11 Forth Place, Stirling. From 1973, he lived at Gartsherrie and he was a
colliery manager and mining engineer. He was killed in an explosion of gas in
the coal mine.
In 1873, Alexandrina was living at Glenny, Parish of Port of Monteith, Perthshire
and was there in 1876. After William was killed, she lived at Bridge End Street, Callander
where she let a house in the summer months. She had general paralysis for about
9 years before she died.
William and Alexandrina had the following children:-
Robert Stevenson was born 8 August 1874, Victoria Villa, Weir Street,
Coatbridge, Lanarkshire and died after 1911. He was residing at Bridge End
Street, Callander in 1881. In 1901 he was a lodger at Byres Road, Kilwinning. By
1911 he was an Analytical Chemist and was staying at
Eglinton Iron Works, Kilwinning (this opened 1845 - closed
1924)
Jessie McFarlane Stevenson was born 20 July 1876, Murray Place, Weir
Street, Coatbridge and died 8 March 1961, 265 Golfhill Drive, Glasgow.
Jessie McFarlane Stevenson married John Scrimgeour
on the 12th February 1904 at Drumcourt, Kilmadock. He was the son of William
Scrimgeour and Christina McLean. He was born about 1866.

Alice McFarlane Scrimgeour, born
15th December 1912 at Doune Lodge, Kilmadock. She was
recorded as 'of Glasgow' so must have been residing there at
some time.
Charles McFarlane Stewart Scrimgeour, born
31st December 1914 at Doune Lodge, Kilmadock. He was
recorded as 'of Creiff' so must have been residing there at
some time.
