Agnes Stevenson
(1841-1863)
Agnes Stevenson was born 11th September 1841 at North Maven, Shetland. Her mother died
only 9 days after giving birth which was probably due to complications from the
labour.
From 1848, Agnes' father was minister of Bothkennar Church. Agnes is not with
her father in 1851 at Bothkennar and it is my belief that her and her brother
William were brought up by their mother's sister at Leith. I have not yet found
them on the 1851 census but may find them at Leith. Agnes does appear on the
1861 census with her father at Bothkennar.
Agnes died at View Vale, Bannockburn on 17 August 1863 and is buried at St
Ninians Old Cemetery.
Her cousin Edward Wilson, signed the death certificate. He seems to be from
the Liddell side. I am surprised that her father did not do so as he was a
minister and lived near by.
I now wonder if there is a connection with this Edward Wilson
and the Mary Ann Wilson who was in Canada.
