The Family of Edward Brown

The tombstone for the Brown Family in North Leith Burial Ground, Edinburgh.

Although the Tombstone on the left is for the family of Evan Liddell, the one next to it is for the family of Brown. This was Evan's wife's family and it has been included here as it was found.

Descendants of Edward Brown

Generation No. 1

Edward Brown married Sarah Duncan before1778. Edward was the harbour master at Leith.

Children of Edward Brown and Sarah Duncan are:

Agnes Brown christened 29 March 1778 and died 20 May 1811.

Elizabeth (Betty) Brown was christened 17 April 1780 and died 14 October 1820. She is buried at North Leith Burial Ground, Edinburgh.

Robert Brown was christened on 05 July 1784, North Leith, Midlothian.

Edward Brown was born 23 March 1787, North Leith, Midlothian and christened 17 April 1787, North Leith, Midlothian

 

Generation No. 2

Agnes Brown was christened 29 March 1778 at North Leith , and died 20 May 1811 and is buried at North Leith Burial Ground. She married Evan Liddell on the 19 November 1802 in Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, son of Adam Liddell and Elizabeth Hill. He was born 15 October 1774 and christened on the 25 October 1774, Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland, and died 29 August 1830. he was a merchant in Leith and is also buried at North Leith Burial Ground.

Children of Agnes Brown and Evan Liddell are:

Sarah Brown Liddell, b. 17 December 1803, North Leith.  Christening: 05 January 1804, North Leith

Edward Liddell, b. 20 September 1805, North Leith.   Christening: 11 October 1805, North Leith

Elisabeth Liddell Christening: 10 July 1807, North Leith

Margaret Menzie Liddell, b. 09 October 1808, North Leith.   Christening: 26 December 1808, North Leith

Agnes Liddell, b. 18 March 1810 and Christened 09 April 1810 at North Leith; d. 20 September 1841, North Mavine, Shetland; m. Rev. William Stevenson, 18 August 1836, Northmaven/Tingwald, Shetland; b. 27 January 1802, Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire OPR; d. 08 December 1884, The Manse, Bothkennar. Agnes is buried at North Mavine, Shetland.

Mary Brown Liddell, b. 20 May 1811; d. 21 August 1840.   Christening: 23 May 1811, North Leith   Burial: North Leith Burial Gorund

Elizabeth Brown known as Betty, was born before 17 April 1780 and died 14 October 1820. She is buried inNorth Leith Burial Ground. She married James Wishart. He was born about 1781, and died 16 February 1858 and is buried in Warriston cemetery. he was a merchant in Leith.

 Children of Elizabeth Brown and James Wishart are:-

John Kay Wishart who died 19 October 1876.

James Wishart, who died 23 November 1887.Burial: North Leith Burial Ground

Edward Wishart who died 15 March 1887.Burial: North Leith Burial Ground

Elizabeth Wishart who died d. 28 October 1854.Burial: North Leith Burial Ground
