Glennie Stevenson
(1880-1964)
Glennie Stevenson was born on the 22nd February 1880 at
St Mary'svale, Gillingham, Kent. He married a
widow, Mabel Kind Knight on the 3rd of January 1922 in Vancouver, Canada. She
was born on the 28th January 1884 in Hambrook, Sussex, England and died on the
5th January 1961 in Alberni, British Columbia, Canada. Glennie died 11 April 1964 at Alberni, British Columbia ,
Canada.

In 1881 Glennie was with his parents at
22F St Mary's Vale, GIllingham, Kent. He was then with his mother and siblings
who were residing at the Post Office, Wick Pershore in 1891. By 1901 Glennie was
at Ingateston & Fryerning, Essex, England
He was a 2nd Lieutenant 2/4th
Leicestershire during WW1and began his service on the 14th September 1914. He
emigrated to Canada after the war, about 1920 and on the 1921 census he was a
farmer at Comox, BC, Canada This was still his residence and occupation in
1922 when he married, and in 1923 and 1924.
Glennie decided to take up the ministry
and was educated at St Mark's College, Vancouver, BC, Canada. As he was also a
farmer on the census at this time, this indicates that there was a stipend which
went with his ministry. By 1926 he was a Deacon and 1926-1927 he was the
Curate of Nanaimo. Between 1926 and
1930 he was at Cedar. Between 1930 and 1932 he was the Vicar of Ladysmith.
Between 1932 and 1952 he was the Vicar at Alberni and lived at 153 Gertrude
Street there.
