Adam Liddell

Adam Liddell was born about 1739 in South Leith. He married Elizabeth Hill about 1764 in South Leith.

Ann Liddell was born 04 November 1765, South Leith.

Charles Liddell was born 28 December 1766, South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland. He was christened  01 January 1767, Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

Jean Liddell was born 15 July 1768, South Leith, Midlothian and christened 29 July 1768, Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

Elizabeth Liddell was christened 03 August 1770, Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

Adam Liddell was christened 02 June 1772, Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland.

Evan Liddell was christened 25 October 1774, (Leith); d. 29 August 1830.

Generation No. 2

Evan Liddell was christened 25 October 1774 in Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, Scotland. He died 29 August 1830. He married Agnes Brown 19 November 1802 in Newhaven, North Leith, Midlothian, daughter of Edward Brown and Sarah Duncan. She was christened on the 29 March 1778, North Leith, and died 20 May 1811. Evan was a Merchant in Leith.

It has the inscription which mentions that his daughter, Agnes, is buried at Northmaven in Shetland, wife of Rev. William Stevenson. Apparently the mess at the tomb is where someone has been feeding cats and not a rough sleeper as was first thought.

 Children of Evan Liddell and Agnes Brown are:

Sarah Brown Liddell, born 17th December 1803 and Christened: 5th January 1804, North Leith. Died 25th December 1876

Her residence at the time of her death was 16 Primrose Street, Leith. She left money to William Stevenson (1838-1879). It is possible that she was the one who brought him up after his mother's death. She was never married.

Edward Liddell, born 20 September 1805, North Leith and christened 11 October 1805, North Leith

Elisabeth Liddell was christened 10 July 1807, North Leith.

Margaret Menzie Liddell was born 09 October 1808, North Leith and christened  26 December 1808, North Leith.

Agnes Liddell was born 18 March 1810, North Leith and died 20 September 1841, North Mavine, Shetland.

Mary Brown Liddell was born 20 May 1811and christened 23 May 1811, North Leith. She died 21 August 1840 and is buried at North Leith Burial Ground

Generation No. 3

Agnes Liddell was born 18 March 1810 in North Leith, christened  09 April 1810, and died 20 September 1841 in North Mavine, Shetland. She is listed on her families grave at North Leith but it is not known if she is interred there or in Shetland. She married Rev. William Stevenson 18 August 1836 in Northmaven/Tingwald, Shetland, son of William Stevenson and Helen Grindlay. He was born 27 January 1802 in Cumbernauld, Dumbartonshire, and died 08 December 1884 in The Manse, Bothkennar. 

 Children of Agnes Liddell and William Stevenson are:

William Stevenson, born 29 May 1838, Northmaven, Shetland and was presumed dead by the court in Scotland on 07 November 1868 in USA. He was christened 15 July 1838, Northmaven, Shetland and was in America on 07 November 1868.

Agnes Liddell Stevenson, born 11 September 1841, Northmaven, Shetland and christened 29 September 1841, Northmaven, Shetland. She was with the family at Bothkennar in 1861. She died 17 August 1863 at View Vale, Bannockburn. Her cousin, Edward Wilson, registered her death although her father was not living so far away that he could not do it himself.
