Mary Stevenson (1819-1865)

Mary Stevenson was born at Clackmannan on 22nd December 1819. She was the first child to be born here which must have been shortly after the family moved from Gateside. She died 1 January 1865.

Mary married Andrew Christie on 29th March 1841 at Clackmannan. He was a Coal Master at the Townhill Colliery, Dunfermline.

They had seven children.

William Christie, b. abt. 12th April 1842, at Dunfermline

Helen Grindlay Christie, b. 12 April 1842, Blindwells Cottage, Tranent, Fife

John Christie, b 5th October 1843, also at Blindwells

William Christie, b. 12th May 1845, Dunfermline, (he married his cousin, Jane Maria Alexandrina Stevenson)

Alexander Christie, b. 11th April 1847, at Bellyeoman, Townhill, Dunfermline, Fife

Robert Christie, b. 1854 Alloa

James Mason Christie, b. 1858, Dunfermline (he was a stepchild).

Mary died sometime between 1858 and 1872. Mary and Andrew are both buried at Dunfermline Abbey Churchyard in the New Ground. There is no stone unless it was illegible when the monumental inscriptions was done some years ago. I do know that Andrew was laid to rest on Mary's right side!
