Cumbernauld Inn
Murder!
Cumbernauld Inn features in the Stevenson history, William
was well known as the Innkeeper there then his son-in-law, John Dumbreck
followed.
I discovered that a murder took place at Cumbernauld Inn at
what would be about the time John Dumbreck and Margaret Stevenson would have
been there. This is some of the information so far.
From the catalogue of the National Archives of Scotland the following
information appears (Needless to say, I will be having a look at the document)

I wonder if there is anything in old
Newspapers about this? Could be interetsing. I like a good 'who dunnit'.
There is also a plan Ref No RHP 13303
Plan of present line of road from Edinburgh to Glasgow by Cumbernauld,
showing proposed new roads east of Cumbernauld Inn and branching from the
present turnpike road at Kennyhill towards Dalmarnock Bridge: [c. 1820]
This would have been discussed during the time when John Dumbreck and
Margaret Stevenson were living at the Inn.
