Robert Alexander Stevenson Perry
(c. 1887- )
Robert Alexander Stevenson Perry
was born 26th January 1887 in 20 Walpole Street,
Liverpool, Lancashire, England. He married M abel
Beatrice Steele about 1921 in
West Derby, England, daughter of Thomas Steele. She was born 15th April 1897 in
Lancashire, England, and died 14th March 1991 in Catskill, Greene, New York,
USA.
In 1891, Robert was residing at 4
Embleden Terrace, Toxteth Park, city of Liverpool Lancashire with his mother,
father and siblings.
I think that he is the one listed in 1901 at the
Holy Trinity Certified Industrial School.
The year and place of birth is correct as well as the district in which
the school was, is also the area in which they lived. He was being
trained as a shoemaker. There is also a Mary F Perry of the right age
at the girls Industrial School. neither of these children are with the
mother on the 1901 census, so it seems as if this is correct. There is
also a WW1 paper which is possibly his. He would indeed, have been the
right age to be called up at 22 years old.
Robert emigrated to New York, 7th May 1928 on board the
Minnekahda which sailed from London. He was a seaman and had been back and forth
to USA prior to this. His wife and children emigrated in 1924.
On the 1930 census, the family are living at 643 Bay
Ridge Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, USA and Robert is employed by the YMCA as a
porter. From his WW2 registration card, he was still working for the YMCA and
lived at 188-47 120 Road, St Albans, Queens, New York, USA.
Children of Robert Perry and Mabel Steele are:
William Robert Perry
Mabel Harriet Perry
Mabel married and had children and
grandchildren. I have no further information at the moment, about William. I
have not found a death for Robert.
