Where Are They?
Silus

Amesbury

Although the following families are listed on various documents as being in Berkshire, Wiltshire and even Hampshire, the majority of them are on Statutory Records listed under Amesbury. For this reason this family are listed under this heading just to show that they are all from the same group of Wyle's.

As can bee seen from the family of Silus, from the baptism records the surname is spelled a variety of ways but the parents names were the same. No baptism has yet been found for Jesse, however, I seem to have some idea that Jesse was used instead of James. No, I am not getting confused with Jesse James! I seem to remember finding this out at some point many years ago and it was probably somewhere listing bible names.

So why would they have two sons called James? Usually this shows that the first one died, but, the Wyle family on further generations did call their children a different name than those when they baptised or registered. I know from experience that I have found names being changed to accommodate too many females and probably not enough names to go round! Fortunately this is within living memory of the family so I know that it is the case. I know that Silus was Jesse's father if it turns out to be another Silus then this line will be corrected.
