Regions in England

The Wyle surname appears in clusters around England. These are mainly in Amesbury, Wiltshire; Brentford, Middlesex; Ashford, Kent; West Midlands; Shropshire; and Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland in the North of England. Of course they do appear in other places when they moved around and paths crossed.

I shall try to organise the groups into a better order than has been done previously. I hope this will make families easier to find.

Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire Counties

Wiltshire and Berkshire changed borders and in some instances places like Shalbourne appear on things like the censuses, as being in Wiltshire and on another will be in Berkshire. Some also cross the boundary to Hampshire. These families are the southern group. Go to the Amesbury page for these families.

Middlesex County

London, Brentford, Ealing, Hanwell and a few other places in the area are another group of Wyle's. Most of these are related to the above group. Go to the Middlesex page for these.

Kent

This batch of Wyle's arrived from other parts of the UK but have been listed under the Ashford Wyle's.

Shropshire

This is where the above Wyle's herald from and perhaps some of those for the West Midlands migrated from here. A small amount of information is found on this page.

West Midlands

There seems to be several groups around this area. Whether or not they are all related is yet to be proved, some are. They may have arrived from Shropshire or it could just be a local corruption of another name. Look here for these families.

North of England

There are a few Wyle's appearing in the Northern part of England. These are located at Durham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Sunderland. These families have all been grouped together under the North of England page.
